Black Butler (黒執事 Kuroshitsuji) is a manga written and illustrated by Yana Toboso. Since its debut on September 16, 2006, it has been serialized in Square Enix's shōnen manga magazine Monthly GFantasy. It was announced in July 2008 that an anime adaption, directed by Shinohara Toshiya and produced by A-1 Pictures, was expected. It premiered in October 2008, and has since ended with 24 episodes. The series follows in Victorian-era Europe, a young boy, Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old head of the Phantomhive noble family who loses everything he once held near and dear to a vicious plot. In his moment of death, he strikes a deal with a demon: his soul, in exchange for revenge Sebastian Michaelis, the demonic butler who is obligated to serve and whose powers as a butler is only surpassed by his strength as a demon., due to a contract he made with Ciel. As he lives for a second chance Ciel Phantomhive now the head of the Phantomhive corporation, handling all business affairs as well as the underground work for the Queen of England.The story follows the two along with their other servants, as they work to unravel the plot behind Ciel's parents' murder, and the horrendous tragedies that befell Ciel in the month directly after.
